On the heels of a movie being developed about the late wrestler Chris Benoit, a former World Heavyweight champion who murdered his wife and son at the family’s home in Atlanta before committing suicide in June 2007, former professional wrestler Brian McGhee will be charged with first degree murder for allegedly stabbing his girlfriend to death.
Police responded to a call of a stabbing at the Del Lago apartments in Tampa around 8:30 pm. on Tuesday. When the deputies arrived on the scene, they discovered a woman had been stabbed multiple times.
The victim was 25-year-old Bianca McGaughey, the girlfriend on McGhee, and she died at the scene from her injuries.
McGhee was taken into custody at the Pasco County Jail on Thursday. Prior to going to jail, the 28-year-old athlete was treated at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa for injuries he received when his 2008 Pontiac Grand Prix crashed after attempting to flee from police on late Wednesday.
The 6 feet, 6 inches tall, 251 pounds grappler posted a photo of a bloody body part on his Facebook page on Wednesday after the murder.
The St. Louis-bred wrestler was employed by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) from 2010 to 2012. As a developmental wrestler, McGhee performed under the wrestling names “The Future” Donovan Ruddick and DT Porter in both Missouri and Florida Championship Wrestling territories.
