Restaurateur and former model B. Smith (full name Barbara Smith) is missing, according to her husband Dan Gasby.
Smith, who AlwaysAList.com reported in June is battling Alzheimer’s disease, was last seen in Southampton, Los Island on Tuesday evening about 8pm.
Apparently, the 64-year-old former lifestyle guru took a jitney from New York City to Sag Harbor where the couple has a home and got off in Southampton.
She was wearing a blue sweater, pink jeans and black sneakers.
Gasby and local authorities are looking for any leads from anyone who knows her whereabouts. The phone number to the Sag Harbor Police is 631-725-0058.
Smith was recently honored at the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation’s (ADDF) Fifth Annual Fall Symposium & Luncheon “Hope on the Horizon” where she received The Charles Evans Award for using her powerful platform to promote public awareness and raise critical funds to combat Alzheimer’s disease.
UPDATED: As of 2:15pm ET, B. Smith has been found safe at Manhattan diner. Apparently, after taking the jitney to Southampton she got back on it and returned to NYC.
A customer having learned of the reports that she was missing recognized her at the diner and called the police.
Her family is relieved.
