Chad Johnson: Meeting With Miami Dolphins Coach Caught On Camera

Chad Johnson

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson’s meeting with the Miami Dolphins coach, Joe Philbin was caught on camera for the weekly HBO docu-series “Hard Knocks” and aired on television last night.

During the meeting, which takes place after Johnson was already notified by Philbin that he would be cutting him from the team, the 34-year-old wide receiver apologized for embarrassing his coach, the Dolphins’ organization and his teammates.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Philbin told the media that his decision to drop Johnson was not solely based on the domestic violence arrest.

“It was more a body of evidence from June 11th forward,” Philbin said, referencing the date Johnson signed to the Miami Dolphins. “It just didn’t work out. It’s more about the fit. In my gut, I didn’t think the fit was going to be beneficial to either party moving forward, whether in the short term or the long term. That’s really what it was all about. It wasn’t about one specific thing; it just wasn’t going to work.”

On the video, the coach is seen having a phone conversation with an unidentified person and he also details the various other reasons why he decided the former “Dancing with the Stars” finalist just wasn’t a fit for his team.

At one point in the conversation, Johnson lied to the coach and said: “I’ve never been in trouble before – ever!”

As reported yesterday, TMZ uncovered Johnson’s previous arrest for domestic violence in 2000 for hitting his girlfriend.  Read  Chad Johnson: History of Domestic Violence Uncovered for details on that arrest.

Philbin does not change his mind regarding his decision to cut Johnson from the team and their conversation remains pleasant.
