Music legend Dionne Warwick is among the list of honorees at this weekend’s taping of BET’s “Black Girls Rock!” special in New York City, but she’s also made another list in California.
The Sunshine State has named the five-time Grammy winner on their latest list of the top 500 people and businesses owing the most in unpaid taxes.
Warwick, who now resides in New Jersey, owes the state of California $2.6 million in unpaid taxes, according to the tax board.
The 71-year-old singer has been delinquent with her taxes since 2003. Her publicist, Kevin Sasaki, said Warwick has already negotiated a repayment plan with California and is currently paying down the outstanding debt.
Warwick, the cousin of the late Whitney Houston, is best known for hits like “Walk On By,” “Don’t Make Me Over,” “Alfie,” “I Say a Little Prayer,” and the iconic “That’s What Friends Are For” with Elton John, Gladys Knight and Stevie Wonder.
