The Miami Heat guard and the Hollywood actress got engaged the same night that the two-time defending NBA champions were gathering for a team Christmas party. Wade proposed to Union before the party.
The couple has been dating since 2009 and this will be the second marriage for both.
Union, 41, was previously married to NFL player Chris Howard. They divorced in 2006.
Wade, 31, was previously married to his former high school sweetheart, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade. After six years of divorce saga that regularly made headlines, the couple reached a divorce settlement this past July. The former couple has two sons together.
Wade and Union did not release any formal statements about the engagement Saturday night.
The Chicago-bred athlete has spent his entire professional basketball career with the Miami Heat since being drafted in 2003. Wade has helped the team win three championships and taking home MVP honors from the NBA Finals in 2006.
Union, born in Omaha, Nebraska, has starred in films like “Think Like A Man,” “Daddy’s Little Girls” and “Bring It On.” The actress starred in a BET movie “Being Mary Jane” in July and the film will return as a TV series starting in January 2014.
Congratulations to them!
