Juanita Bynum: “I’ve Been With Women!”

Controversial televangelist Juanita Bynum is making headlines yet again.

The 53-year-old preacher, who made headlines in 2007 after her then husband Bishop Thomas Weeks, III physically abused her outside of an Atlanta hotel, is making news again after confessing she has had lesbian sex during an appearance on the radio program “Frank & Wanda in the Morning.”

“I’ve been there and I’ve done it all. I did the drugs, I’ve been with men, I’ve been with women. All of it,” she said during her July 13 interview.

Radio host Frank Ski quickly followed up with: “Are you serious?”

Bynum continued: “Every bit of it! It’s my life.”

No stranger to candid confessions, Bynum became an international preaching sensation in 1997 when her sermon about finding sexual wholeness called “No More Sheets” made her a household name in the Christian community.

“That abuse I suffered was because I attracted after my own kind,” Bynum explained. “That abuse was already sitting in me. I had already abused myself mentally and emotionally for years trying to fill a void that only the power of purpose can fill. You can have sex with 50,000 people; you can do drugs until the cows come home. But the void that you’re trying to fill is a void that’s been put there by the Creator and it’s called purpose and destiny and until you accept that you’re going to walk around the living dead.”

The Chicago native, who is currently signed as a solo recording artist to Mathew Knowles’ Music World Gospel label, was appearing on the radio show to promote a theater producer she was starring in called “Get Your Life Back,” which deals with tackling life issues and shame and guilt.

Ski asked Bynum to speak on the power of purpose and how she was able to bounce back from struggles or trauma.

“I’ve been there! But I think the minute I allowed somebody to help me to take full responsibility for my life and not doing the blame game to say ‘oh, this is their fault;’ I took full responsibility in every area because every choice that I made, nobody put a gun to my head. I made those choices due to a lack of wisdom,” she offered, before adding: “I’m not insecure about being around people who have issues and struggles because I’ve been there and I’ve done it all.”

As news began to spread online about her same-sex relations admission, fans began to comment and there was some apparent backlash on social media. Bynum took to her official Twitter account and posted the follow messages to address:

  1. Alrighty Then

When so called judgmental “Christians” understand the meaning of the word Christian…meaning to be Christ-like, but we are not Christ meaning we are not perfect and spotless like Christ, then we will all be better off. Judgmental “Christians” are so self-righteous that they don’t even realize they are the ones committing the biggest sin. Only GOD has the right to judge, so to condemn a brother or sister in Christ through judgment is them trying to be God and I’m quite sure God doesn’t take that too well. Our only job is to LOVE our brothers and sisters and it’s commanded in the Word for us to do so. We are ALL sinners and no sin is greater or smaller than the next one. The Word also says, Do not Judge or you’ll be judged. So for those who gave her a hard time, they need to check their glass houses before throwing stones. Stay encouraged Sister Bynum.

  2. Reallytho

I am not quite sure I understand why CHRISTIANS are upset about where she is saying that God delivered her FROM?!?! Seriously ya’ll? When did we stop praising God for His works to deliver people from their worldy entrapments? She wasn’t saying that she is still out there having sex with women- she was sharing her testimony of where she has been delivered from. Anyone who cannot say hallelujah to God delivering her isn’t in my eyes, a real christian…I thought we rejoiced when our brothers and sisters turned from sin, not condemned them….I’m just saying….
