Did reality TV star La Toya Jackson become a bride for the second time?
Rumors swirled this weekend that the fifth of the Jackson Family’s nine siblings got married this weekend to her longtime friend and business partner Jeffre Phillips in Los Angeles.
Radar Online was first to report the news of the 57-year-old’s alleged wedding this weekend. They also claimed that Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, and nephew, Prince (Michael’s oldest son), attended the ceremony.
News outlets picked up on the story because Phillips did pop the question to the late Michael Jackson’s older sister on her OWN Network reality series, “Life With La Toya.”
Unfortunately, it didn’t happen. Jackson took to Twitter to address the story.
“Thank you all for your congratulations on what you thought was a marriage. It was a rumor. I’M NOT MARRIED!” she wrote via @LaToyaJackson.
The couple also released a statement dispelling the report as well.
“The rumors that La Toya Jackson married her longtime business partner Jeffre Phillips are completely false. The reporting outlet should be embarrassed for their mistake and at least make an effort to find facts to back up their story before reporting,” it read.
Do you think this was a misreport or an orchestrated publicity stunt to promote the second season of “Life With La Toya?”
Jackson was previously married to her former manager, the late Jack Gordon in 1989. After a controversial and tumultuous union, she filed for divorce in 1996.
