Marvin Sapp: Not A Suspect In Missing Woman Case

Marvin Sapp

The internet has been abuzz with speculation that award-winning Gospel star Marvin Sapp was a primary suspect in the disappearance of his former church member, Teleka Patrick.

Some arbitrary blog created a story that referenced an alleged conversation with investigating officers claiming that Sapp, who pastors the Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was the lead suspect.

That rumor has since been dispelled by Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s investigators who are clear that report is false.

Since Patrick when missing, the investigation authorities at the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Department have said Sapp was not a suspect at all. “Mr. Sapp has been nothing but cooperative. He Is an innocent victim of stalking in this incident,” they said in a statement.

The 30-year-old doctor disappeared on December 5, 2013. After she went missing, several odd videos of her professing love to an unidentified person were released publicly.

It was later revealed that Sapp was granted a personal protection order against Patrick three months prior to her disappearance.

Patrick had been a member of the 47-year-old singing-preacher’s church since moving from the Michigan from California, however she was asked to leave the ministry after showing up at his home, contacting his children and stalking him.

Additionally, the ‘Never Would Have Made It’ singer has more than 400 pages of correspondence from Patrick that he never responded to. His petition requesting the protection order is effective until March 18, 2014.

Patrick’s family hired a private investigator named Jim Carlin. He told a local news station that he does not believe Sapp or any of his associates harmed Patrick, but said her family and members of Sapp’s own church are unhappy with how little effort he has shown in efforts to find the missing woman.
