Back on September 30, 2014, reported that popular news anchor T.J. Holmes had entered a temporary agreement with ABC to fill in on their overnight program “World News Now” and do contributing segments for “Good Morning America.”

In December, ABC News revealed that the 37-year-old TV journalist had signed on to be a full-time member of the Disney-owned news company’s team.

Details of Holmes’ status with ABC News was announced by ABC News President James Goldston in a note to the staff.

“I’m thrilled to announce that T.J. Holmes is officially joining ‘America This Morning’ and ‘World News Now’ as co-anchor,” said Goldston. “T.J. has impressed us all for the past few months with his vibrant storytelling, engaging style, and quick wit. An award-winning journalist, he has reported from around the world on some of the most important stories of our day.”

In addition to his two co-anchor roles, Holmes he will also report across all of ABC News broadcast and digital platforms.  The West Memphis, Ark.-bred talent will continue appearing on “GMA” where he hosts a Social Square segment and often guest anchors when Michael Strahan is out.

Holmes survived a short-lived stint at BET from 2012 until 2013, where he hosted the highly-anticipated but ill-fated “Don’t Sleep.”  The late night talker was canceled after two short months.

The twice-married father of three, who once dated TLC singer Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, anchored George Zimmerman’s trial coverage for CNN’s sister network HLN in 2013.

Earlier this year, Holmes anchored a half-dozen episodes of “MSNBC Live” and “Weekends with Alex Witt” for MSNBC.  He also provided contributing work to the NBC’s “Weekend Today” and guest co-hosted ABC’s “The View” twice.
