TV mogul Tyra Banks is a first-time mother.
The 42-year-old former supermodel and her boyfriend, Norwegian photographer Erik Asla, have welcomed a son, York Banks Asla, via gestational surrogate.
The creator of “America’s Next Top Model” first revealed the news of her newborn on Instagram with a photo of a baby hat.
The caption to the photo read: “The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here. He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world.”
On Sept. 2015, Banks joined ABC’s ensemble talk show “The FABLife” alongside Chrissy Teigen, Joe Zee, Lauren Makk and Leah Ashley. In Nov. 2015, Banks released a statement that she was quitting the show to focus on her cosmetics company. Suffering from low ratings, the show’s cancellation was announced on Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016.
