On April 29, 2013, AlwaysAList.com reported that Magic Johnson’s new cable network ASPiRE has greenlit a new ensemble talk show of Black women called “Exhale.”
The show premiered on Thursday on ASPiRE, but not before hosting a screening and reception in Atlanta to celebrate the launch of the series.
Co-hosts Malinda Williams, Rene Syler, Angela Burt-Murray, Erin Jackson, and Issa Rae were on hand to greet guests and debut their new talk show to attendees. Following their screening, there was a Q&A with author Pearl Cleage.
Among those in attendance for the launch event were actress Terri J. Vaughn, singer Avery Sunshine, cast members from Tyler Perry’s “For Better or Worse,” and original Destiny’s Child member, the very pregnant LaTavia Roberson.
ASPiRE launched on June 27, 2012 as a part of the deal struck between Comcast and NBC Universal and targets African-Americans. The network, which is backed by Magic Johnson, is available in about 15 million households.
