NBA Champion Dwyane Wade hosted his annual Wade’s World Weekend in his hometown of Chicago.
The Miami Heat All-Star brought together family, friends and celebrity pals from the worlds of sports and entertainment for his foundation’s weekend.
Among the notables who came out to support the 30-year-old basketball included rapper/actor Common, actress Essence Atkins, Judge Greg Mathis, comedian DeRay Davis, actor Rockmond Dunbar, singer Michelle Williams, NBA star Shawn Marion, “America’s Next Top Model” winner Jaslene Gonzalez, Chicago Bears player Israel Idonije and others.
The Wade’s World Foundation was founded in 2003 and centers around promoting the education of children and youth, with focused initiatives on literacy, health and fatherhood. The education enrichment foundation, which targets at-risk communities of Chicago, Milwaukee, and the South Florida region, emphasizes that “life is bigger than basketball” and uses the motto: “Every Child Deserves a Shot.”
