Jonathan Nelson: Gospel Star Challenging Everyone To Be “Fearless”

Jonathan Nelson

Four-time Stellar Award winner Jonathan Nelson has great anticipation for his fifth album, “Fearless.”

Captured live during a live CD/DVD recording called “Fearless Experience” at this home church The Faith Center in Sunrise, Florida earlier this year, the disc marks Nelson’s first release on his new label home eOne Music.

The singer/songwriter has dismantled his former group Purpose and for “Fearless,” Nelson decided to assemble select worship leaders from all over the U.S. to provide his backing vocals.

Additionally, his latest offering – expected to bow this fall – bolsters a who’s who of guest appearances like the incomparable Kim Burrell, African praise artist Sonnie Badu, rapper Da T.R.U.T.H., singer Tye Tribbett, and his twin brother, recording artist Jason Nelson.

On the collaboration with his brother, Nelson reworked the title track the duo recorded on his 2003 independent album debut, “Live in Baltimore: Everything you Are” and the reinterpretation of it was masterful.

Grammy winner Dorinda Clark-Cole of The Clark Sisters was not apart of the “Fearless” live concert, but will go into the studio to lay vocals for a hand-clapping, foot-stomping song called ‘Forever Settled.’

A night of energetic praise and worship, there were several highlights during the recording.  The Biblically-entrenched ‘Rehoboth’ created a moment, while the Caribbean-tinged ‘I Believe (So Long, Bye Bye)’ sent the capacity crowd into a spirited Holy Ghost dance.

But it was the infectious ‘Anything Can Happen’ that featured singer Claude Deuce on guest lead vocals that resonated with the room.  A song of encouragement, everything about the selection embodied what Sunday morning anthems are made of.

The Baltimore-bred artist believes the messaging of “Fearless” is important during these times.

“It’s my hope that each listener will be inspired to take the risk of faith and do what God created you to do—whatever your personal assignment is.  Be bold, be strong, be courageous and be ‘fearless,'” Nelson told AlwaysAList.com.
