Oscar-winning actress Mo’Nique began losing weight prior to winning her Academy Award for her starring role in Lee Daniels’ “Precious” in 2009.
The “Queens of Comedy” funny woman—who released two best-selling books, “Skinny Women Are Evil: Notes of a Big Girl in a Small-Minded World” and “Skinny Cooks Can’t Be Trusted”—built a great portion of her comedy routine over the years criticizing thin women.
Now, the woman who once called thin women, “skinny bitches,” has lost a lot of weight herself. In a recent photo revealed online, the Baltimore-bred talent shows off her 82-pound weight loss.
Avid fans of Mo’Nique have watched her weight loss journey on her website MoniqueWorldwide.org in a section titled “Follow the Journey.” On the site, Mo’Nique posts videos of her workouts and healthy lifestyle regimen.
Since her BET late night BET talk show, “The Mo’Nique Show,” was cancelled in July 2011, Mo’Nique has kept a low profile. She and her husband, Sidney host an online U-Stream show each Tuesday at 3pm ET. She will soon host a new online show, “Mo’Nique’s Book of the Month” every first Monday of the month starting soon.
Mo’Nique received great backlash in Hollywood for apparently being demanding and exhibiting ungrateful behavior during award show season leading up to the 2009 Oscars. Industry insiders speculate that is why despite winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in 2009, Mo’Nique has yet to appear in another film.
