Stephen B. Steward: Celebrities Support Him Giving Back To Youth

Stephen B. Steward is a recording artist, entrepreneur and a philanthropist. In addition to recording worship songs and carving out his own niche in Gospel music, the Altadena, Calif.-based talent and his wife work with the LOV Olive Branches charity.

LOV Olive Branches was founded in 1999 by Pastor Emeritus Leroy and Anna Toliver and is now helmed by Steward and his wife, Onesha.

The charity held its annual SBS Youth Talent Competition that AlwaysAList.com was a part of. In addition to KiKi Shepard (“Showtime at the Apollo”), Obba Babatundé (“Half & Half”) and several other high-profile industry types, we all judged the talent competition that showcased some of the regions finest young people.

There were also showcase performances “American Idol” finalist Asia’h Epperson, We R Remix, Malachi Cohen, Carlon Jeffery, and Na’Tasha May, while DJ Kiss spun records for the crowd.

In addition to the talent competition, Steward also hosted a concert at the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena that featured him, his mentor Andrae Crouch and was headlined by the incomparable Jonathan Butler. In attendance for the show were Judge Mablean Ephriam, actress Dawnn Lewis (“Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper”), Glynn Turman (“A Different World”), singer Freda Payne, actor Earl Billings (“What’s Happening”), and other industry notables.

Steward is gearing up for his debut release called “Enter Your Gates” on May 20 via Central South Distribution. The passionate worshipper has released two single, ‘Purify My Soul’ and ‘The Sound of Heaven.’

A former real estate mogul and Subway franchise owner, Steward decided to wait until his children when in college to pursue his passion for music. “I’ve never been formally trained, I just sing what The Lord gives to me,” he said of his music.
