This week, Reach Media finally confirmed our report by formally announcing the “The D.L. Hughley Show.”
“I’m very excited to get back to radio and it couldn’t have come at a better time. I think radio fits my sensibility. I want to be fast, I want to be funny, I want to be topical. I want to make people laugh a lot and think a little. Some people want to push the envelope – I want to see if I can singe it a little,” said Hughley.
Hughley’s co-hosts on his radio show will be radio personality Jasmine Sanders and comic Steve Wilson. Sanders currently is the sidekick on “Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show,” and Wilson previously worked opposite Hughley on his syndicated morning show based in New York City.
Hughley originally wanted news anchor and his former morning show co-host Jacque Reid for his afternoon show. Reach Media had also pursued radio veteran DeDe McGuire for the slot. In the end, Sanders landed the opportunity and will transition from her existing gig into this one.
Radio veteran Skip Cheatham will serve as the producer of “The D.L. Hughley Show,” and radio programmer Juan D – who previously worked on “The Michael Baisden Show” – is the Program Director.
Reach Media has not announced the official start date of the show.
