Starting on Monday, April 1, Baiden’s former syndicator Cumulus Media Networks will debut a new afternoon drive show called “Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show.”
The show, which will air from 3pm to 7pm, will be hosted by radio veteran Skip Murphy and feature co-host Jasmine Sanders.
Murphy is a 30-year radio veteran who previously hosted a top-rated morning show in Dallas for more than a decade. Recently, Murphy worked as the substitute host on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” filling in when Tom Joyner took vacation days.
Sanders previously hosted mid-day radio in New York City. Currently, she hosts a television show for Centric called “Culturalist.”
“Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show” will combine modern music and R&B hits from the 80’s and 90’s, topical conversation and celebrity guests.
“‘Skip Murphy in the Afternoon’ will be upbeat, with humor, dishing on the latest trends, gossip and more. The music will provide the beat for an entertaining drive home. We will also begin testing more beloved and captivating personalities in the African American community in the entertainment category to be a part of the show,” a description of the show provided by Cumulus offered.
Cumulus has partnered with Reach Media—the Radio One-owned company that oversees the “Tom Joyner Morning Show“—to launch the new afternoon show.
“Skip Murphy in the Afternoon Show” will be produced by Rob Wilkins, a former producer on the BET late night talk show “The Mo’Nique Show,” and producer of Mo’Nique’s short-lived syndicated radio show, “The Mo’Nique Show.”
