The musical, which made its debut last summer at the Midtown International Theatre Festival, is based on three women who arrive at a funeral only to discover they were all engaged to the same dead man.
The production deals with “love, lies and betrayal” while the “ghost of the deceased watches on!”
In addition to the two R&B stars playing lead roles in “Love Lies,” the play also stars actress Elise Neal, BET’s “Sunday Best” winner Crystal Aikin and comedian Kier Spates of the “Steve Harvey Morning Show.”
“I have the killer cast. Brian McKnight the ladies man, music royalty Angie Stone, Elise Neal an incredible actress and sexy, Crystal Aikin – what a voice, the hilariously funny Kier Spates a.k.a. Junior, and talented Amber A. Harris. They are going to knock these roles out of the park. It’s going to be great fun to have these dynamic performers on board,” said Battle.
“Love Lies” marks Battle’s debut as a playwright.
The production will kickoff in Washington, DC and will also play dates in Miami, Baltimore, Chicago, Atlanta, Birmingham and other cities. For a detailed tour schedule, go to www.loveliesthetour.com.
