Reality TV star La Toya Jackson is headed to the Great White Way to star in the off-Broadway show, “Newsical the Musical.”
The 56-year-old entertainer will begin in the production on Sept. 3, taking over for Emmy-winning “227” star Jackée Harry.
“I’ve wanted to do [theater], but on Broadway the shows play for such a long, extended time,” Jackson told the New York Post.
Her run in the show will go through Sept. 8 and she has an option to extend her performance in the show after that.
To prepare for “Newsical the Musical,” Jackson has been taking an acting workshop. She also checked out comediennes Kim Coles and Kym Whitley’s weekly “Ladies Night Live Comedy Show” in Los Angeles to help her with comedic timing.
The fifth of the Jackson Family’s nine siblings is also currently shooting season two of her hit OWN Network reality series, “Life with La Toya.”
The series debuted earlier this year to high ratings and was quickly optioned for a sophomore season.
