Black Entertainment Television revealed the new hosts of their long-running music video series “106 & Park” and rapper/actor Bow Wow is one of them. It was first reported that the former child star once known as Lil Bow Wow would be one of the new hosts of “106 & Park” by the entertainment blog The Jasmine Brand.
“I am very excited to take on this new journey in my career with BET. I’m all about branding myself and not just in music, but in TV and movies,” said Bow Wow. “Everyone always wants to compare me to the Fresh Prince, well now they can call me the Fresh Prince of ‘106 & Park.’ Get ready for a whole new world.”
The 25-year-old hip-hop star, who was nicknamed Mr. “106 & Park” by BET for the amount of appearances who used to make on the show, will anchor the weekly series along with “The Search” contest winners Ms. Mykie, 23; Paigion, 24; and Shorty Da Prince, 23.
“We chose to break the mold. These 4 talented folks will bring spirit, fresh perspective and crazy fun to the 106 & Park stage. Shorty, Paigion and Miss Mykie are clearly stars and luckily for us, started gelling as a collective during The Search,” said Stephen Hill, President of Music Programming and Specials, BET Networks. “On the sneak tip, we were pursuing Bow Wow hoping he might be interested. We were thrilled when he said “yes.” The energy is palpable. The crew is assembled. We are excited about this new future of 106 & Park.”
The quartet of hosts replace exiting hosts Terrence J and Rocsi Diaz, both who opted to leave the series to explore other interests.
TV personalities Free and A.J. Calloway were the original hosts of “106 & Park,” and Big Tigger and Julissa Bermudez also had a stint as hosts.
“106 & Park” airs Monday through Friday at 6pm ET.
