On February 26, 2014, AlwaysAList.com reported that “The Arsenio Hall Show” had been renewed for a second season.
In the most bizarre move, CBS has changed its mind on bringing back “The Arsenio Hall Show.” Late Friday it was announced that the show would not move forward with a second season after all.
CBS Television Distribution released a statement saying that the May 21 season finale of the show would be the series finale episode.
“While there are many loyal fans of the show, the series did not grow its audience enough to continue,” CBS said in a statement.
“We all knew it would be a challenge,” Hall said in a statement released by CBS. “I’m gratified for the year we’ve had and proud of the show we created.”
Because the news broke late on Friday, many fans of the show missed that CBS had reversed its decision to bring the show back.
The 58-year-old comic took to Twitter on Monday address the situation with fans.
Sadly, CBS’s change of heart misled producers and show employees who ended this season believing they would be returning for a second season later this year. Now they’re all unemployed.
This was Hall’s second late-night stint. His groundbreaking first effort of the show had a five-year run and aired from 1989-94.
