Magic Johnson’s new cable network Aspire has greenlit a new ensemble talk show of Black women called “Exhale.”
The new series is hosted by five African-American women from five different backgrounds in the entertainment business. Details on the weekly show were first reported by Variety.
Like ABC’s “The View,” and its competition, CBS’s “The Talk,” will delve into conversations about “family, relationships, career, money and faith.”
The co-hosts for “Exhale” include “Soul Food” actress Malinda Williams; TV anchor and author, Rene Syler; former Essence magazine editor turned CEO of CocoaFab.com, Angela Burt-Murray; comedienne Erin Jackson; and YouTube sensation and former “Don’t Sleep with T.J. Holmes” contributor Issa Rae.
The first season of the show will include eight episodes. Production on “Exhale” has already begun. The show will be produced by Lynne Robinson and Black Robin Media.
“Exhale” will be Aspire’s third original series. Look for it to debut in June just in time for Aspire’s one-year anniversary.
Aspire launched last June as a part of the deal struck between Comcast and NBCUniversal and targets African-American audiences.
