It’s the end of the road for “Scandal” star Columbus Short.
The actor who played the popular Harrison Wright on the hit ABC drama starring Kerry Washington has been terminated from the series following allegations of domestic violence and threatening to kill his wife with a knife. His wife has since got a restraining order against him and he’s also been charged in connection with another incident with domestic violence and child abuse.
The domestic violence troubles follow his previous arrest for beating up a man in a bar during a party.
Rumors of the 31-year-old actor’s job on “Scandal” being in jeopardy intensified after the season finale aired and his character was seen at B613 with a gun to his head.
Short released a statement about his departure from the show.
“At this time I must confirm my exit from a show I’ve called home for 3 years, with what is the most talented ensemble on television today. I would like to first thank Shonda Rhimes for the opportunity to work with such an amazing cast. Thank you GLADIATORS, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas. I wish nothing but the best for Shonda, Kerry and the rest of the cast, who have become like a second family to me in such a short amount of time. For this, I will forever be grateful,” he said.
The actor has vowed to focus his current energy on his musical endeavors. He recently released a single to radio called ‘Gave Ya’ that has been getting pretty positive feedback from listeners.
