Elevator Gate: Spoofed On “Saturday Night Live”

SNL show open 1

It was the biggest entertainment story last week and the fallout from the post-Met Gala incident in the hotel elevator with Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Solange Knowles continues to makes headlines.

Fittingly, NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” spoofed the entire situation this past weekend. The incident, that we at AlwaysAList.com call Elevator Gate, was featured as the opening of “SNL’s” 39th season finale.

Cast members Jay Pharoah, Sasheer Zamata and Kenan Thompson, as well as “SNL” alum Maya Rudolph participated in the skit making fun of Elevator Gate.

In addition to the skit being entertaining, it was quite impressive that “SNL” led the show with a skit featuring its three Black cast members. The show has received a lot of backlash over the last year for lacking diversity and it’s why they recently hired the Black comedienne Zamata.

The season finale of “SNL” was hosted by cast alum Andy Samberg.
