BET’s “Being Mary Jane” landed stellar ratings for its series debut on Tuesday night.
“Being Mary Jane” scored 5.1 million viewers for its premiere night, with 3.3 million viewers watching the first airing of the hour-long drama at 10pm, and 1.8 million tuned into the repeat.
Starring Gabrielle Union, “Being Mary Jane’s” numbers made it the No. 1 original series debut on cable for the 2013-14 TV season.
The show is produced by Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, the husband and wife team behind “The Game” and “Girlfriends.”
“Being Mary Jane” originally aired as a 90-minute movie in July 2013 and landed great ratings as a film special too.
