Former “Girlfriends” star Golden Brooks has landed a new gig. The actress will join the cast of the CW drama “Hart of Dixie,” reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The 41-year-old actress will play Ruby Jeffries, a successful woman with acerbic wit who returns to BlueBell and makes quick friends with Rachel Bilson’s Zoe. However, upon her return home, Ruby will encounter some unresolved issues with her fellow townspeople — including Lemon (Jaime King) and Lavon (Cress Williams).
The San Francisco-bred actress, best known for playing Maya Wilkes for eight seasons of “Girlfriends” on UPN/CW, will make her debut on “Hart of Dixie” when the show’s second season premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
Brooks, who has also starred in films like “Beauty Shop” and “Something New,” has a two-year-old daughter named Dakota with her ex-boyfriend; “Single Ladies” star D.B. Woodside.
