On the heals of the death of Dr. Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey), “Grey’s Anatomy” has a new full time surgeon.
The long-running ABC drama has promoted actor Jason George who plays Ben Warren – the surgical resident and an attending anesthesiologist that happens to be married to Miranda Bailey – from recurring character to series regular for the upcoming 12th season.
The 43-year-old actor first appeared on “Grey’s Anatomy” in 2010 and has been featured on 43 episodes of the drama.
In addition to his work on “Grey’s,” George also stars on the ABC series “Mistresses.” The former star of UPN’s sitcom “Eve” also starred in another Shonda Rhimes’ produced series, the short-lived medical drama “Off the Map.”
The addition of George as a full-time cast member is the second major change to the show for the upcoming fall season. AlwaysAList.com previously reported that veteran actress/director Debbie Allen would serve as the series’ executive producer and director beginning with season 12.
“Grey’s Anatomy” season 12 returns on Sept. 24 at 8pm on ABC.
