Looks like “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss has a hit on her spin-off wedding series.
Titled “The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi’s Wedding,” the debut episode on Sunday scored 2.4 million total viewers, making it the best-performing spin-off from the franchise.
Burruss even beat out her first spin-off, “The Kandi Factory,” which only scored 671,000 viewers during its debut episode. After moving from Tuesdays to Sundays, “The Kandi Factory’s” ratings increased substantially.
Bravo used a clever method to ensure the success of the 37-year-old Grammy winner’s latest spin-off. By titling the series “The Real Housewives of Atlanta: Kandi’s Wedding,” DVR’s and TiVo’s that already record “Real Housewives of Atlanta” automatically record the spin-off show.
According to TheWrap.com, Lifetime increased “Project Runway” spin-off “Under the Gunn” ratings by using the same method in the middle of the show’s run and renaming it “Project Runway: Under the Gunn.” That resulted in a 36 percent increase in viewership.
