Fox has now announced that the former Destiny’s Child member will join the judging table on the Simon Cowell-produced competition series.
Rowland and Latin star Paulina Rubio will work alongside returning judges Cowell and Demi Lovato when the show returns for season three.
“It’s taken more than a decade but I’m delighted to finally be on a panel with three girls (I think!). Paulina and Kelly both have great taste and massive experience in the music industry and together with Demi, this is going to be a fun panel. It just feels like the time to do something different,” said Cowell in a statement.
While this is the 32-year-old singer’s first time judging the U.S. version of “The X Factor,” she previously served as a judge on the U.K. version of the show in 2011.
While judging the eighth season of the UK version of the show, Rowland famously feuded with fellow judge Tulisa Contostavlo. Rowland opted to leave the show after one season to focus on her music endeavors.
“I am very excited to be reuniting with Simon Cowell. It feels great to be able to take this journey here at home in the states,” said Rowland.
The Houston-bred vocalist will release her fourth studio CD, “Talk a Good Game” on June 18.
