Kerry Washington: Responds To Emmy Nomination

Kerry Washington

It’s a good time to be actress Kerry Washington.

The star of the hit ABC drama “Scandal” just received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for her role as Olivia Pope on the political-themed drama. Washington is nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

The actress took to Twitter to express her excitement about the Emmy nod.

“Just landed. WOW! I’m so grateful & humbled. THX 4 all your CONGRATS,” Washington wrote via @KerryWashington. “And a HUGE thank you to the @PrimetimeEmmys voters! What an absolute honor! Wow.”

Fans of “Scandal” had been declaring via social media that Washington’s work on the series deserved an Emmy nomination since the show’s debut season. Apparently, the New York-bred talent is just happy it finally happened.

“I’ll spend the rest of my life saying this and it won’t ever be enough but… THANK YOU @shondarhimes XOXOXOX,” she concluded.

The 36-year-old actress is currently featured on the cover of Vanity Fair. Washington is one of the few people of color to land a solo cover of Vanity Fair, as the glossy is known for epitomizing the fair in its name as it pertains to cover subjects.

Nnamdi Asomugha

Earlier this month, it was also revealed that Washington had secretly wed NFL star Nnamdi Asomugha on June 24, 2013 during a secret ceremony in Hailey, Idaho.

Congrads Kerry. Phylicia Rashad was on the FANTASTIC “The Cosby Show” for 8yrs from 84-92. She was
    nom’d only 1st 2 yrs, 84,85. Didnt win.

I dont think Kerry will win either.
But it is always a “an honour jsut to be nom’d” right ?
