Game Change: “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” Gets New Host

Cedric The Entertainer is out as the host of Disney-ABC’s “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.”

The news came on Wednesday that the “Original Kings of Comedy” funnyman would be exiting the show after one season.

The 50-year-old “Soul Man” star cited his busy schedule that includes “many television and film projects” and the show’s production schedule in Connecticut as his reason for leaving the game show.

Sources tell that declining ratings is what actually made ABC decide to make a switch. Neilsen reports back up that theory.

Early reports are indicating that actor Terry Crews will take over as the host.

The star of films like “The Expendables” and “The Single Moms Club” and TV shows like “Everybody Hates Chris” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is being courted by ABC to helm the show.

The 45-year-old comedic actor has become a Hollywood and advertisers’ favorite, having appeared in Super Bowl commercials for brands like Old Spice and Toyota. is reporting that ABC is final negotiations with Crews now.

The syndicated daytime version of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” was first hosted by Meredith Vieira, who left the show after 11 seasons in 2013.

ABC has formally announced that Terry Crews is taking over “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.”

The network confirmed on May 7 that the actor will taking of the show, which will shoot in Stamford, Connecticut. A statement from Crews was included in the official release.

“I’m beyond thrilled to be joining ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’ and the Disney-ABC family,” commented Crews. “‘Millionaire’ is such a beloved franchise and I can’t wait to get started as the new host. In addition to my film projects including ‘Blended,’ ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ and now being a first time author, hosting has always been a dream of mine, and I couldn’t have asked for a greater opportunity.”
