Back For More: Pooch Hall Returning To BET’s “The Game”

Fans of BET’s “The Game” were disheartened at the end of season five when it was reported that actors Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry would be leaving the series where they played the principal characters Derwin and Melanie.

Mowry’s departure from the show that previously aired on the CW Network was reportedly because of contractual differences, though the actress later told radio host DeDe McGuire that she was “fired” from the series.

Hall’s situation was different. The Brockton, Mass.-bred actor had booked a lead role on a new Showtime drama “Ray Donovan” and the production schedules for “The Game” and “Ray Donovan” overlapped.  Though it did not look promising, Hall was adamant throughout the negotiations that he was doing his very best to make both situations work out.

Now we learn that he has!  The 35-year-old actor took to his official Twitter account @iam_PoochHall to reveal that the scheduling had worked out with both of his shows and that he would be returning for season six of the sports-themed dramedy.

Hall’s series “Ray Donovan” will shoot its 12 episode order for Showtime in Los Angeles. “The Game” will return to Atlanta to tape its forthcoming season there.

AlwaysAList.com previously reported that Mowry, who appears alongside her twin sister Tamera Mowry-Housley on the Style Network reality series “Tia & Tamera,” has already booked a new role on the family comedy “Instant Mom” for Nick at Nick since leaving “The Game.”

Additionally, BET has also cast a new couple for season six of “The Game” played by Lauren London (“This Christmas”/”ATL”) and Jay Ellis (“Hearts of Dixie”/”NCIS”)
