AlwaysAList.com has learned that the entire cast from season five of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” will return when the show begins shooting season six this spring.
According to a show insider, Bravo starts negotiating contracts with “Housewives” cast members immediately following the taping of their reunion special.
There was some speculation that Stewart, who joined the show during season five, would not be returning next season because Bravo executives were upset that her husband, retired NFL star Kordell Stewart refused to appear at the reunion taping. Since Stewart’s husband has ambushed her by filing for divorce, TV brass feel viewers would be interested in watching Stewart transition after being married.
Despite fabricating her relationship with Atlanta businessman Walter Jackson to be eligible for the show, Bravo is also having former Miss USA, Moore return as well. Fans of the series wondered if the network would phase her out of the franchise after Jackson exposed they duped viewers, cast mates and network executives with their made-for-TV relationship.
Leakes is the only cast member from the original season left of the Atlanta franchise. The 45-year-old former stripper will continue to balance her time between shooting “Real Housewives of Atlanta” and being a co-star on the NBC sitcom, “The New Normal.”
Kim Zolciak, the only non-Black member on the Atlanta cast, left the show during season five after the rest of the cast members collectively pressed Bravo to let her go. The cast felt Zolciak used her pregnancy as an excuse not to film required scenes. They were so upset that they were all required to work and she wasn’t that they all staged a “walk out” and refused to shoot scenes for a week.
“Those ladies may not see eye-to-eye on a lot of things, but they were united as one as it pertained to Bravo making too many concessions for Kim. In the end, they got the results they wanted and she was off the show,” a source close to the production told AlwaysAList.com.
Bravo used the opportunity to have Zolciak shoot a second season of her wedding spinoff, “Don’t Be Tardy.”
Zolciak is not suspected to return to the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” franchise when they start shooting season six later this spring.
Bravo TV had no comment on the upcoming season.
