TV Land has given the green light to its sitcom “The Soul Man.”
“The Soul Man” just wrapped its second season three months ago. In addition to airing on TV Land, “The Soul Man” gets a second airing on BET.
Black viewership played a significant part in the renewal of “The Soul Man.” Over the first two seasons, the sitcom averaged a strong 3.7 rating among African-American women ages 25 to 54. The show also marked a 3.0 rating with African-American Adults 25-54.
“We’re so proud to have this show in our portfolio of sitcoms,” said TV Land president Larry W. Jones. “Fans of The Soul Man’ are the drivers behind the success of the series. Because of their passion, we are able to continuously bring new viewers to the channel.”
Both Cedric The Entertainer and Nash will serve double-duty now the show is returning. The “Original Kings of Comedy” headliner will continue hosting the daytime game show, “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.” Nash is currently starring in a new half-hour comedy for HBO called “Getting On.”
