Her OWN Show: La Toya Jackson Lands Deal For Reality Series

La Toya Jackson is set to star in her own reality series on Oprah Winfrey‘s OWN Network. The show, titled “Life With La Toya” will premiere in early 2013.

The 56-year-old entertainer, once considered the black sheep of the Jackson family, will give viewers a glimpse into her famous family, as well as show her trying to balance time with friends and developing her own entertainment business empire.

“I am so pleased to be working with television legend Oprah Winfrey and to be a part of the OWN family,” Jackson said. “This will be one of the most exciting adventures of my life.”

OWN co-president Sheri Salata said the docu-series had been in development for months.  “We are delighted to work with La Toya to bring this new show to OWN viewers,” she said.

Jackson, the fifth of the Jackson’s nine siblings, is no stranger to reality television. The Gary, Ind.-born singer was a cast member on CBS’s ill-fated “Armed & Famous” show in 2007, which showed celebrities basic training and service as a reserve police officer with the Muncie Police Department.

In 2009, Jackson traveled to the U.K. to join the British cast of “Celebrity Big Brother.”

Jackson was also a cast member on season four of Donald Trump’s “The Celebrity Apprentice,” which aired in 2011. The “Heart Don’t Lie” singer didn’t win the show, but famously feuded with both “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star NeNe Leakes and talk show host Star Jones while competing for her charity.
