Hollywood mogul Tyler Perry is branching out from Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network and launching a new dramatic series for the TLC channel. TLC, like OWN, is owned by Discovery Networks.

Perry’s new show has a working title of “Too Close To Home” and is set in Washington, DC. The show will center on a young woman who achieves unparalleled success on the Washington political circuit, only to see it slip away when her affair with a married senator makes headlines.

Perry currently has four shows on OWN – two dramas “The Haves and The Have Nots” and “If Loving You Is Wrong;” and two sitcoms “For Better Or Worse” and “Love Thy Neighbor.”

His two dramas have garnered record-breaking ratings for OWN and the sitcom “Love Thy Neighbor” is approaching syndication numbers.

The 46-year-old executive moved over to OWN after his deal with TBS ended in 2011.

Perry has previously stated that he would indeed like to launch his own television network in the near future.
