Former “The Young and The Restless” star Victoria Rowell is readying a return to TV with a self-produced project called “The Rich & The Ruthless.”
The 54-year-old actress, whose stint on the hit CBS daytime drama ended on a sour note and spawned a whirlwind media campaign, is ready to sore in the soap space and hopes her fans can help her achieve that. Rowell launched a Kickstarter campaign in an effort to raise $50,000 in 40 days to complete her project.
On her Kickstarter page, Rowell has a short trailer for the project and includes her dramatic petition to fans requesting their participation in her production process. The campaign ends on Wednesday Aug. 28, at 5:15pm ET. At press time, she’s raised $711. The minimum pledge is $1.
Rowell won 12 NAACP Image Awards for playing Drucilla Winters on “The Young and The Restless.” She left the show in 2007 after creative differences with “Y&R’s” parent company Sony Pictures Television.
Since leaving the show, Rowell penned the book, “Secrets Of A Soap Opera Diva,” a thinly veiled look into her own life on daytime TV. She also released the novel “The Young and the Ruthless: Back in the Bubbles.”
