Comedian Wayne Brady has apologized for making a joke about Sarah Palin’s son, Trig during a televised roast of comedienne Roseanne Barr on Comedy Central.
The Emmy Award-winning host made reference to Trig, who suffers from Down syndrome, during a joke about fellow comedian Jeff Ross.
Brady joked: “Jeff Ross. These are all jokes and I really like you. But a lot of people hate you. Especially, Sarah Palin! Because you remind her of what Trig is going to look like when he’s 40.”
The audience, who originally laughed at the joke, then began to lightly boo Brady
The Hollywood funnyman responded: “Oh, now yall boo me? F— yall! I don’t want to hear that! These people said all of this s— about me and you boo me because of Trig!”
The audience then erupted with laughter and applause.
The joke made headlines and some critics accused the 40-year-old entertainer of being insensitive to a serious illness like Down syndrome.
Brady took to his Facebook page to personally respond to the fallout. Read Brady’s complete, unedited letter to fans below:
