Last year she hosted a red carpet special from the Soul Train Awards for Centric and BET, but this year, Wendy Williams is hosting the entire show.
On Monday, music legend Dionne Warwick and Tony Cornelius, the son of the late Soul Train founder Don Cornelius, appeared on Williams’ daytime talk show to make the surprise announcement.
“As a longtime lover of R&B and Hip Hop, I am beyond excited to host this year’s Soul Train Awards on Centric,” said Williams in a statement following the show. “It is an honor to be a part of the biggest night in music and highlight the achievements of both legends and rising talent. Vegas, how you doin’?”
This is the 50-year-old talk show host’s first time hosting a televised award show.
The Soul Train Awards will premiere on Nov. 30 at 8pm ET and air on both Centric and BET.
