End Of The Road: Michael Strahan & Nicole Murphy Split
The couple has called off their five-year engagement in a statement issued late Friday night to People magazine.
“They love each other very much, but with the distance and work schedule it has been hard to maintain the relationship,” his rep told the celebrity weekly.
The news broke the evening before the former New York Giants star was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
TMZ published a story claiming that the announcement was intended to “ruin the biggest moment of his career” planned by “Nicole or someone close to her.”

But the TMZ story clearly has a comment from Strahan’s rep, not Murphy’s — so that theory seems a bit farfetched.
Strahan, who hosts “Live with Kelly & Michael” and is an anchor on “Good Morning America,” started dating Murphy, star of VH1’s “Hollywood Exes,” seven years ago.
The retired NFL great had a nasty divorce from his second wife Jean Muggli. Murphy was previously married to comedian Eddie Murphy.
Between the two of them, the couple had nine children — though none together.
