Word Play: Vanessa Bell Calloway Brings Zora Neale Hurston Show East
Actress Vanessa Bell Calloway will play her one-woman show about prolific writer Zora Neale Hurston on the East Coast.
“Letters From Zora,” the play Calloway first played at the Pasadena Playhouse in Pasadena, Calif., will run from Oct. 9 – 26 at the Crossroads Theatre Company in New Brunswick, NJ.
The NAACP Image Award-nominated actress will play nine shows during the two week stint in New Jersey on Thursdays through Sundays.

“My dream is to get this worthy and beautifully written piece by Gabrielle Denise Pina, to a New York stage very soon,” she said. “If you’ve seen this piece then you understand my passion and excitement and if you haven’t experienced it then you’ll understand as soon as you do.”
Calloway has a recurring role on the Showtime series “Shameless,” as well as having recently guest starred on “Rizzoli & Isles,” “Castle,” “NCIS” and “Reckless.” Additionally, the actress hosts a popular dinner and conversation web series called “In The Company Of Friends.”
