Reality Reverends: Oxygen’s “Preachers of Detroit” Features Member of The Clark Sisters

Oxygen is expanding is successful “Preachers of LA” franchise by expanding to the Motor City.

The cable network has formally announced a spin-off, “Preachers of Detroit” that is set to premiere in the winter of 2015.

The reality series set in birthplace of Motown will feature the first female minister in the collective of preachers. Grammy-winning member of The Clark Sisters, Evangelist Dorinda Clark-Cole has signed on to be in the cast.

The 56-year-old minister also hosts a weekly talk show called “The Dorinda Show” for Totally Christian Television, a syndicated radio show called “Serving Up Soul with Dorinda Clark-Cole” and has a fashion line called the Rose Collection in partnership with Terramina Collection.

Clark Cole first foray into reality television follows her sister, Karen Clark Sheard, who co-stars in a family series “The Sheards” for BET alongside her daughter Kierra Sheard, son J. Drew Sheard and husband, Bishop J. Drew Sheard.

Rounding out the “Preachers of Detroit” cast are Bishop Charles Ellis, Pastor David Bullock, Pastor Don Shelby, Bishop Corletta Vaughn, Bishop-Elect Clarence Langston, and Pastor Tim Alden.

Oxygen’s “Preachers” franchise is produced by L. Plummer Media in association with Relevé Entertainment with Lemuel Plummer, Holly Davis Carter and Chris Costine serving as Executive Producers.

The reality franchise has been publicly criticized by prominent preachers like Bishop T.D. Jakes and renowned Gospel singers like Kirk Franklin. recently reported that “Preachers of LA” star Deitrick Haddon’s CD sales were at an all-time low after appearing on the show. That, in addition to several public scandals, caused his record label RCA Inspiration to end their relationship with the singer.
