Fresh off the heals of performing on BET’s “Celebration of Gospel” with Pastor Charles Jenkins and Heavenly Joy on the song “War,” Tasha Page Lockhart is headed on the road with Tyler Perry.
The season six winner of BET’s “Sunday Best” will join the second leg of Perry’s current touring play, “Madea on the Run” starting Feb. 12 in Nashville.
In the show, the “Faith Come Alive” singer will play a character named Netta, the homely sister that always gets picked on.
A Detroit native, Lockhart is the daughter of gospel veteran Lisa Page Brooks of Witness and the step-daughter of Bishop Michael Brooks, of the legendary group Commissioned.

Despite growing up as the daughter of Gospel royalty and a preacher’s kid, Lockhart rebelled against her upbringing and turned to a life of partying, drugs and alcohol. The married, mother of two tired of her wild ways and decided to turn her life around.
“No matter how messed up your past is, you can still win with Jesus. If you make the decision to change and turn your challenges over to Him, He’ll do the rest,” told AlwaysAList.com in a prior interview about “Sunday Best.”
In 2013, the 32-year-old singer auditioned for BET’s “Sunday Best” and won the competition series that year. In August 2014, she released her debut album, “Here Right Now,” on Kirk Franklin’s Fo Yo Soul Recordings/RCA Records. Lockhart is also featured on Franklin’s newest CD, “Losing My Religion” on a duet with Zacardi Cortez called “It’s Time.”
On February 19, Lockhart and her mother can be seen on the BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Honors on TV One performing a show-stopping salute to Mary Mary with the group’s hit song, “Go Get It.”
Following her stint with “Madea on the Run” with Perry in May, Lockhart will apparently finalize new music for her sophomore album that is slated to bow later in 2016.
