The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) along with Motown Gospel recognized some of the Gospel industry’s music artists and songwriters during the Stellar Awards weekend in Las Vegas this past weekend.
As part of their 7th annual ASCAP Morning Glory Breakfast reception at The Mirage Hotel & Casino, the performance rights organization ASCAP and record label Motown Gospel saluted Grammy winner Tasha Cobbs and Grammy nominee Brian Courtney Wilson with the first-ever ASCAP “Power In Praise” Award, a special accolade given to ASCAP members who have made significant strides in shaping the future of gospel music.
The breakfast was hosted by syndicated radio personality Darlene McCoy and featured performances by Motown Gospel artists Myron Butler, Janice Gaines, Royce Lovett and honoree Wilson.
In addition to Cobbs and Wilson, a host of other 2016 Stellar Awards nominees were in attendance and recognized at the Morning Glory Breakfast reception including: Jonathan McReynolds, J.J. Hairston, Anthony Brown, Gerald & Tammi Haddon, Jason Nelson, Casey J, William McDowell, Jekalyn Carr, music producer Daniel Weatherspoon, Pastor Marlon Lock, Kenny Lewis, rapper Flame, family group The Showers and others.[divider]
