Run On: Will “Underground” Return On WGN For Season Two?

WGN America has renewed its record-breaking series “Underground” for a second season.

The critically-acclaimed drama that focuses on the Underground Railroad has been a hit with viewers, drawing three-million viewers on Wednesday nights.

“Underground” has been the highest-rated scripted series premiere of any cable drama this season. “Underground” was also the number one original scripted series on cable last Wednesday night across all key demographics.

UndergroundThe revolutionary slave series boasts a cast of skilled actors including Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Christopher Meloni, Adina Porter, Amirah Vann, Mykelti Williamson, Alano Miller, Jessica De Gouw, Johnny Ray Gill, Renwick Scott, Theodus Crane and Marc Blucas.

The TV drama is produced Mike Jackson and Akiva Goldsman and directed by Anthony Hemingway.WGN

Oscar winner John Legend is also an executive producer on “Underground” and he his Get Lifted team oversee the music for the series.
