Chad Johnson Apologizes: Declares “I Love Evelyn To Death”

Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson has broken his silence and appears to be taking some accountability for his actions related to the domestic violence incident with his wife, Evelyn Lozada.

The 34-year-old NFL star issued a statement on his own website, OchoCinco News Network addressing the matter firsthand.

“I would like to apologize to everyone for the recent events that have occurred.  I would like to wish Evelyn well and will never say anything bad about her because I truly love her to death,” the statement on read.

Johnson was dropped by the Miami Dolphins less than 24 hours after his arrest.

Miami Dolphins Coach Joe Philbin said today during a press conference that cutting Johnson was not just based on the “Dancing with the Stars” finalist’s recent arrest.

“It was more a body of evidence from June 11th forward,” Philbin said, referencing the date Johnson signed to the Miami Dolphins. “It just didn’t work out. It’s more about the fit. In my gut, I didn’t think the fit was going to be beneficial to either party moving forward, whether in the short term or the long term. That’s really what it was all about. It wasn’t about one specific thing; it just wasn’t going to work.”

Johnson is not giving up on returning to the NFL after dealing with his domestic violence situation.

“I will continue to be positive and train hard for another opportunity in the NFL.  To all the fans and supporters I have disappointed, you have my sincerest apologies.  I will stay positive and get through this tough period in my life,” the athlete continued in his statement.

Johnson also changed his Twitter photo to an image with a message that says: “Rock – Hard Place.”

On Saturday, Johnson was arrested for domestic violence after allegedly attacking Lozada, whom he apparently head-butted and caused multiple lacerations to the forehead after the couple had an argument over a receipt for condoms she found in their car.

Earlier today, Lozada, who stars on VH1’s “Basketball Wives,” filed for divorce from Johnson citing “irretrievably broken.”

The couple’s forthcoming reality show “Ev and Ocho” has been pulled from the VH1 schedule and the network has revealed they have “no current plans of airing it.”
