Midsize Magic: The 2018 Mazda6 Signature Serves Luxury & Sportiness

A good road trip can be therapeutic for me. It invigorates me. Helps me to think, enjoy time alone with music and some occasional phone calls. Plus, I love to figure out ways to avoid traffic and navigate through drivers who don’t approach maneuvering with my assertiveness on the highway.

So the day of my Aunt Ann’s funeral in Warrenton, VA, my road trip to the Westchester area of New York was just what I needed. After spending some time with my family, having food and fellowship, I put the 2018 Mazda 6 Signature on the road on a beautiful, breezy Saturday afternoon for a solid five good hours of open road. (Well, there was a little traffic moving through the McLean, VA area into Silver Spring, MD.)

This stylish mid-size sedan in Mazda’s premium Signature offering was the perfect vessel for my voyage. Its drive was smooth and it gripped the road, boasting great acceleration and the safety options needed to make sure stayed alert the duration of my trip.

There wasn’t any changing lanes without a turn signal, as the lane departure warning and lane keeping assist kept you honest. An additional safety features included the brake assist and blind spot monitor, two things that help a lot when taking on the highway in an extended road trip.

Another feature of the 2018 Mazda6 Signature that was a standout included the comfortable knee pads. Whether on a long road trip like me or just on your regular commute from work, there’s nothing like resting your right leg on the lower edge of the center console for added relaxation.

Sometimes it’s the little added touches that add to your appreciation of a car.

Among the other features this car offers that often make me happy in a vehicle: Variable Speed Intermittent Wipers, Auto-Off Headlights and Rain-Sensing Wipers!

For my entertainment purposes, it was great being able to use the Apple CarPlay to bump my music. And it was also perfect for the times when I needed to divert from the vehicles navigation system and use Waze to avoid highway traffic. This car also has a new surround-view camera system.

The 2018 Mazda6 Signature takes a subtle approach to luxury. You feel the high-end nature of its offerings, but they don’t scream at you. Yet, this mid-size sedan is able to maintain its sportiness – the sport mode drive on this car was exceptional – without losing its sophisticated appeal.

You’ll get 23 miles per gallon on the highway, and 31 on the highway.

Spin Control: With a price range that goes from $22,845 to about $35,640 for the model I was driving, 2018 Mazda6 Signature is a car where you get your bang for your buck without a doubt!
