Automotive Austerity: A Look At The 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport

It’s no secret that I’m a big professional wrestling fan. And in the world of pro wrestling, there are three categories of wrestlers: top guys, mid-card and jobbers.

As it pertains to the world of automotive, the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2.4 SEL AWD would be a solid mid-card vehicle—practicality without too much flash!

See, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport doesn’t boast the bells and whistles of its competition. It’s not stealing the spotlight or headlining the main event of an automotive extravaganza. None of that.

Instead, it’s a basic small-sized crossover that has enough features to make it intriguing to those who want an affordable car that gets the job done.  But it’s an attractive crossover vehicle!

One of its best qualities: the gas mileage. This small car will land you 23 to 24 miles per gallon in the city, and then give you 28 to 30 miles per gallon on the highway.

And as far as amenities are concerned for the price range, there are several that I feel are standout. First up is the double USB access connection and two different power plugs as well. That helps makes sure you can connect your devices and keep basically four charged.

For those in the second row, the arm rest with cup holders (when you only have two passengers in the back) is certainly a great asset.

Something to sing about (and not something I emphasize regularly), but the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has excellent warranty coverage that surpasses that of most of its rivals. So there’s coverage that keeps you comfortable.

But the drive is adequate and offers ample cargo room for carrying groceries or not-too-big boxes around.

There are some safety features that add to the security of the drive, but overall the drive of this car is basic and this isn’t an extended road trip vehicle. It’s a meet-the-daily-needs locally type of car.

Favorite Feature: Arm rest with cup holders in the second row

Least Favorite Feature: Ride quality is very rough over bumpy roads or potholes

Spin Control: You’re not buying this car for luxury, you’re buying it for practicality. And with a range of $20,945 – 26,545; the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport 2.4 SEL AWD is the poster child for practicality.

Status: C List
