Yours truly hosted a clips and conversation presentation during the festival for the movie, based on the life of a rising football star falsely accused a rape and who spent six years in prison before working to have his sentence overturn and redeeming his name.

The real life Brian Banks, the actor who played him, Aldis Hodge, and Sherri Shepherd, who stars as his mother in the film, were all on hand to promote the movie and to participate in a dialogue about it.

A compelling story that Banks admitted during our Q&A was tough to relive at times being on set, this film has a powerful message that all young men—especially teenage Black boys—should see.

The movie opens nationwide on August 9, 2019 via Bleeker Street.
