Cruising Caravan: The 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited Is Far From A Minivan

It was a family road trip down the country for Thanksgiving. That’s what I needed a vehicle for.

So when I was scheduled in the 2019 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Limited, I knew it would be perfect.

Spacious, comfortable, solid drive and handling; this minivan was the perfect vehicle to drive my mother and brother down into the countryside of Virginia to our relatives house and carry all of our dishes for the big meal.

Though the Pacifica is a minivan, it doesn’t feel like one. The interior design elements are contemporary and made of premium quality materials. The execution of it is fresh and feels like a simple form of luxury. The minivan also offers great amenities like televisions and plenty of accessory adaptors for parents who desperately need ways to entertainment their children.

The drive on the highway is smooth, as it handles the road well. Plus, navigating through the smaller and narrower country streets and winding roads was a breeze. Blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross-traffic-alert systems are both standard on all trim levels, as are rear parking sensors with automatic braking.

As a hybrid, the Pacifica can travel 32 miles on a charge in EV mode. In the combo gas and electric mode, you’re getting a whopping 82 miles per gallon. Translation: You can travel a great deal and worry about fueling up later. And the truth is, I drove the Pacifica for seven days including our holiday road trip and had about 62 miles remaining when the manufacturer came to pick it up.

The fuel efficient offerings of this vehicle make it eligible for a mammoth $7,500 income-tax credit from the federal government that wipes out the premium you pay for the plug-in hybrid powertrain and brings the total up-front cost down to or even below its gas-only competition. That aspect makes the Pacifica an overall financial win for those who opt to get one.

A low price and significantly lower operating costs mean the Pacifica Hybrid is an economic winner for any household. Plus, it’s all based on the already-excellent Pacifica.

Later in that weekend, R&B singer Leela James was in town for a concert. She and her background singers road with me to dinner and Leela immediately fell in love with the Pacifica.

She is actually on the market for a minivan because she has two active kids and getting to travel through D.C. and get an unexpected test drive in this vehicle was an ideal scenario for her.
